By the way, a little insight into the statistical probability that the "Psalm 118 thing" would occur:
The Old Testament has 39 books, and the New Testament has 27 books. In these 66 books, you will find a total of 1,189 chapters containing about 31,273 verses. What are the odds that our friend would have "randomly" thought that Grant would be a "Proclaimer" vs. the idea that God communicated that to him? What are the odds that so many people would have ended up at Psalm 118--let alone the exact verse (17)--vs. the idea that God led them?
Just a little food for thought.
Hey Jan--perhaps we should do a Monte Carlo Probability Analysis on that, huh? (sory--an inside joke with my office)

OK Jim and Shannon,
You've got four more very concerned, very prayerful folks right along side you ( as best we can from 1500 miles away) at this moment. Like the others, we have been consummed in our words and prayers over the last 36 hours. WE pray and continue to pray that the Dr.'s might have wisdom and exercise it well in the Diagnosis and action plans they develop.
Likewise, we pray for the two of you, that you will have moments ... rest, and as corny as it sounds some tranquility around all this 'Stuff'.
Finally, we pray for the strength, Resilience and will of Grant over the next few Days, weeks, and months.
We're pulling for you, and I wish I were closer.

Jim and Shannon:
On life's journey as a parent we are rewarded in many ways. For that we must endure an enormous amount of heart felt pain. One does not reap those rewards unless they go thru the pain and come out still believing in the power of God. Believing is everything.

Shannon & Jim,
Just been to the theatre with the boys and are thrilled to hear about Grant's progress today. Hope you can rest a little easier tonight.

Hi,
I am a friend of your moms from step class. My son was born 6 weeks early and had open heart surgery at 4 months. It was a long and difficult 4 months with many ups and downs. He was on 12 different medicines after surgery, it was hard to believe they could get all that in a baby less than 7 lbs.
He now is almost 18, 6 ft tall, plays varsity baseball, basketball, is in National Honor Society and is a Eagle Scout. He continues to amaze us every day. I know that Grant will also grow to be strong with all your love will have a wonderful long life.
You are doing a great job. Hang in there.

Jim and Shannon,
I heard the news today about the new "Proclaimer" Grant Samuel, and his early struggles. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your entire family during this trying time. I have also contacted my family and have spread the word for his safe recovery. May the lord keep your family safe and healthy this coming Christmas!
Sincerely yours,

Hi there -
This is Kathryn Boyer, Janet & Mike's daughter (my parents are neighbors of Jim and Shannon in B-ham). Our whole family is praying for you guys and Grant. You are all in our thoughts constantly and we know that God is going to bless you all in so many ways.
God is SO good, and SO strong and SO big... we trust in Him and know that He is going to hold Grant so close until he is healed.
Here's to Grant and his AWESOME recovery. And here's to his amazing parents and their love and strength in this trying time.
Bless you all and we will keep you in our prayers.
Love, The Boyers
Jim, please make sure Shannon is drinking a lot of water and eating. It's important for her to remember that SHE is also recovering from the birth. Also, breastmilk is the best source of nutrition, so I'm encouraging her to pump like crazy. I'm so glad to hear that Grant is doing better. I check your blog like 17 times a day for updates! love, Erika, Dustin, Rory, Tiger, and Allegra

Jim and Shannon,
Just wanted you folks to know that you are constantly in the Headland family prayers right now. I'm so thrilled to know that Grant is doing better! God must have an incredible plan for that boy!
God bless you!
With Love,
Audrey and the whole Headland family
This gives me goose bumps! You don't know me but I heard about Grant through my church - New Life Church. There is a pediatric cardiologist that works with Devaney. His name is John Charpie, he is my ex-husband (11 years ago). He is NOT a believer and is very hard hearted about "all that stuff". It is possible that John will care for Grant and that maybe through Grant and you two, John might see the love of God and start asking questions. Just a thought but it goes along with the Psalm 118 thing - Grant could be proclaiming to his doctors!
in Christ,
Peggy Morris Charpie
