Onward & Upward

The kid almost seems normal now--he whines, cries, eats out of a bottle in addition to the feeding tube, sleeps all day and then poops like a rhino. And we love it.

Saw the senior doc today and he said Grant is doing great. Chest tube is still in though...please pray the drainage stops so they can take it out tomorrow.

His lungs are slowly repairing and doc said they will recover completely in time. Hooray!

So, next steps are:
1. Chest tube out
2. Slowly get off the oxygen
3. Go home (we'll most likely be released the middle of next week)
4. Wean off the meds over the course of several weeks
5. Have periodic check-ups to see how he is doing as some percentage of TAPVR patients require a second surgery within a year.

Shannon has been having difficulty sleeping again, which really triggers a downward spiral--thank you for continuing to pray for her.

We love you all!

Tne news you'll all be home soon is the one I've been hoping to read! Thanks for keeping everyone updated on the progress of little Grant. Like so many others I've been hooked up to this blog constantly. I cannot begin to tell you what an inspiration you guys are for me and I am sure for many others.

Wow..and God Bless you guys. Having just caught on to these events last night, I am struck by the outpouring and drama that is Life, and that you are living. The love being shared is tremendous, as is the gift of the wonderful life of Grant Samuel. Thank you. He is already proclaiming the love of Christ to us all. It has helped me to understand this advent season of waiting and longing, and the hope of deliverance as we wait for the coming of our Savior, Emmanuel. Indeed 'God is with us!'God is with you and little Grant. Christi and my prayers are continual and with you. Rejoice!

Ha! I figured out how to post, finally. [I'm blog-challenged, apparently.]

We've been following the progress.

Great news that Grant is moving toward normal, rhino poop & all.

Will continue to pray for you all, especially Shannon. Sleep is a wonderful gift.

Jim and Shannon and Grant--
Boy, what a cheering section you guys have behind you! It makes me wonder how people can go through something like this alone. Strangely enough, I feel connected to all that have written, and all who have been watching these posts as anxiously as we have. It seems selfish to find growth for myself out of this experience, but I have been reminded of so many truths.
I'm thrilled that Grant is doing better and pray that you can get some sleep Shannon.
Love,
Michelle and Coop
