The chest tube didn't come out again today. There is still too much drainage from the surgery. They said it won't come out tomorrow either. Please pray that his drainage slows down to less than 3 cc's. Right now it is over 20. (Unfortunately, this is an increase from yesterday.)

Shannon and Jim, keep in mind, as I am sure the staff has told you that things don't always run smoothly and sometimes there is a small step back before a step forward. We will all be praying for Grant's chest tube to be removed in His time and that once removed will never be replaced. You two are a wonderful witness and Grant is blessed to have such a mom and dad. Thanks again for the updates, it means so much to know how to pray for Grant. Kathy R.
Dear Shannon, Jim and Baby Grant,
Psalm 118 is still in the book and I will read it again! Fluid does need a way out ....so we pray it to be cleansing his little body and finish up to a nice 3 cc?'s..
When he sleeps, you sleep!

Shannon and JIm... hello! I have been thinking and praying for you and precious Grant. I am so glad to hear he is improving. what a fighter! and you two are so awesome. God is close to you, I can tell through your comments on this blog site. May He continue to heal your boy and bring you the stregth to "mount up on eagle's wings".
All blessings fall, from you O God. All life and all love. And we pray for mercy on Grant's body, that you would continue your miraculous and amazing healing of his body. Claim him as your own, we thank you for the story of YOU in his life, even being only weeks old - move forever in his lifetime.
Praise God from whom all blessings fall. Merry Christmas Eve, eve. We miss you guys.
God, continue to "GRANT" us a miracle... love, amy & rachel, otb
Psalm 27:13-14
Dear Grant,
I am one of the many people in your life that know you, but that you have yet to meet, as your life unfolds. You have the best parents a kid could ever have, and a praying, wonderful group of family and friends who are closely following your trying entry into this great world of His.
You are now 14 days old and this is the best day of your life. Why? Because you will never be 14 days old again. Think about it; every day of your life is the best day of your life, because you will never see this day again. Deep for a 14-day-old to ponder, but your Mom and Dad will help you understand this idea and many, many more in the years to come.
You gave us all a big scare when this heart defect was diagnosed, but your life has already had an impact on many people and we have witnessed huge Blessings from God because of it.
"Go softly, softly." This is a saying from my Dad that you will grow to understand. For now, know that it came from a great Dad, who is one of the Angels guarding over you and the rest us. I hope to share some of his other thoughts on life with you and your Mom and Dad, in time.
Have a very Blessed Christmas and adventurous New Year with your Family.
Love,
Janet Boyer
Hi Jim and Shannon,
We in the Morsfield household have been praying for you all since we heard about Grant's dramatic entrance into this world. Wow, talk about a shocker! I just now today found this web site- was barking up the wrong tree...Anyway, I've been getting caught up today on your blog and it is so good to hear all the great news about Grant!
We so feel for what you have been through and are still in the midst of. Mark Jr. was born with a heart defect- much, much less severe than Grant's- he didn't have surgery until he was 20 months old. However, my point is, I know how hard it was for us to start out as brand new parents with a problem that I, especially, felt much guilt over. I have especially been praying for you, Shannon, for protection in your mind and thoughts as I'm sure you have relived your pregnancy over and over and asked yourself, "Was it something I did?" No, it wasn't, and don't even start going down that road. So if you ever get hassled that way, know that I am praying specifically for protection for you from the devil's lies.......
We were in the hospital with Mark for 5 days, and it was the same feeling of being a bit overwhelmed at the needs that we saw. It made us so thankful for what we had- an intact marriage, incredible support from family, friends, church, etc., and most importantly, a relationship with our loving Maker. We prayed much for the people around us and wondered, frankly, at how some of them coped without benefit of many of those things. So I will be praying too for all that you come in contact with, because I am sure that God is using you in their lives, as only He can.
Grant has sooo much going for him; truly, the blessings are too numerous to count when you start looking at all the ways, big and small, God has taken care of him throughout this ordeal. We will be continuing to pray, pray, pray. You guys are great parents, I know, already! God will give you everything you need in the coming days and weeks as Grant continues to improve and you take him home. That will be such a joyous day but probably a little nerve-wracking too; but just know that that day will be bathed in prayer as well.
Sorry this is so long but I wanted to let you know that you have been very much in our thoughts and prayers, and that we do empathize, having known just a tiny portion of what you're going through.
Oh, and when Mark Jr. finally got his chest tube out, there was such a big difference in him! It will be such a happy day!
God bless you, Val Morsfield
