I think yesterday was the best day I've had since Grant was born. He didn't throw up, he didn't scream while being fed (he even took half a bottle by mouth!), he smiled and looked so peaceful when I held him. Aside from the tubes etc. I think this must be what it is like to be a mom of a "normal" baby. As I got in to bed last night it was the first time that I didn't feel scared that Grant was going to die. Every day since he's been born we've had some sort of problem. In many ways it has really kept me from enjoying being a mom because I've been in problem solving mode instead of "enjoy the moment" mode.
In church last week I felt like God was telling me to stop trying so hard and to enjoy Grant. I argued back that this is close to impossible to do with a baby that is always throwing up, screaming in pain or struggling to breathe. But, now I know why God wanted me to do this. It is so much better. I know there will probably be more roadblocks ahead, but for now I am really thankful to be home and enjoying Grant.
