Today we went to a new pediatrician for Grant's 6 month check up. After trying 5 pediatricians I think we have finally found a perfect fit. It makes me so excited to finally have a primary care doctor for Grant. We found out that he's still at the 90th percentile for height and the 25th for weight.
Grant has been doing better with solid food lately. He really prefers food that he can pick up and put in his mouth himself -french fries, Gerber cheese puffs and other healthy foods like that. :) The doctor watched him eat the cheese puffs and thinks it is more of a control issue than a food issue. This makes sense because he is probably sick of all the medication and pokes that come at him without his consent. She said that if Grant starts eating more solids and drinking a little better out of a sippy cup then we can get rid of the bottle! We are still calorie counting and would appreciate your prayers that Grant continues to eat more solids.

Hooray! That is very good news! Praise God!
that is so awesome shan - i am SO glad!!! he is doing so great - and who cares if he eats french fries!!! he is so adorable - i LOVE the 6 month photos (:
Hi Shannon - try different shaped pasta with good fatty home made cheese sauce (or Contadina Alfredo from the dairy section). Gabrielle loves eating this with her hands. Also, French toast without syrup - then he gets protein and carb. Avocado chunks. Banana chunks. Scrambled eggs and dare I say sausage? Sliced hot dogs (chicken/turkey franks)? Gerber also makes "Pasta Pick-Ups" in a few different varieties. Although Gabrielle does not like them - he might and they have plenty of fat. I also want to say that Merredith was in the 95% in height and 20-25% in weight for the first 3 years of her life...or until they stopped counting. She was a VERY healthy baby and is a very NORMAL 7 year old. Hope this is encouraging.
Yeay for a good pediatrician that you are comfortable with. I know that is HALF the battle. We will continue to pray for Grant to enjoy his eating experience. The control issue makes absolute sense to me! Especially the way he tries to grab the spoon to do it himself. You may end up with a messy kid and kitchen, but I think once he gets the hang of it, there will be no stopping him. Kudos to you as a mom Shannon!!
Glad that Grant is doing better and you have a ped you like. I'm envious -- I was just "fired" from a ped we liked here in Arizona because I won't vaccinate the kids. P.S. Rory is in the 13% percentile for weight. I'm always sneaking in full-fat butter and whole milk and stuff to his food. Wait til you see his skinny little chicken legs. -love, Erika and Fam.
